Pull Buoy
A pull buoy is a figure-eight shaped piece of swimming equipment made from solid foam and used mainly in swimming workouts. It is placed between the legs in the crotch area to provide support to the body without kicking the legs. This allows the swimmer to focus on arm technique.
Pull buoys are usually used by more advanced swimmers for training, as they are not suitable for non-swimmers as a buoyancy aid. They are designed to restrict the use of the swimmer's lower body, causing a greater intensity on the arms and upper body.
They are widely used by swimmers to provide resistance and isolate the arm action of a given stroke. They help to strengthen the upper body and arms by eliminating the kick propulsion, while keeping body position correct in the water.
Advantages:
Provide good isolation of the upper body.
Ideal for work-outs and training
Disadvantages:
Not suitable for non-swimmers
